Cascia, a land of silence and meditation
The town of Saint Rita is packed with history: its houses, churches and streets echo the saint’s strength and gentleness.
The archaeological finds are evidence the area around Cascia was inhabited in ancient times, as a result of its central role in the very ancient, complex road system revolving around the Corno valley.
The town museum circuit: an extraordinary nucleus of culture
The artistic heritage of Cascia is divided between two different locations: the main part is housed in the town palace of the noble Santi family. From 1704 to 1738, it was home to the Capuchin nuns of Santa Chiara, who made numerous alterations to the building and who also built the adjoining church of Sant’Emidio.
